I’ve been a tech for nearly a decade. Back when I first started I did things the long way as I didn’t know better. Now I know better and don’t have time to be bothered with pop ups that say “One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing. Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.” Depending on the machine/OS/Adobe media this can take you 20 minutes or much more to reinstall Adobe. There’s an easy fix for this.

Go into the folder at the root of your hard drive that says “Previous System”. In the “Library” folder you will find a “ScriptingAdditions” folder. Move the Adobe Unit Types file into your current Library/ScriptingAdditions folder or if you don’t have one you can make a new ScriptingAdditions folder and then move the Adobe Unit Types. In the case of there only being the Adobe Unit Types in there I have just moved the entire folder.
This is also a fix for when after an archive install Photoshop will no longer allow you to open up a file by double clicking it. It launches Photoshop but doesn’t open the file. Moving Adobe Unit Types back into the current ScriptingAdditions folder will allow your Photoshop to function again.
So much trouble for one little file.
