A Magic Wand for your Font Problems.

Did I get your attention? I’m only stretching the truth a little bit as it’s not really a magic wand. Unfortunately that doesn’t exist when it comes to fonts. There is however *poof* Font Nuke. Font Nuke removes font caches. Font caches as I understand them, are supposed to be these little helper files that make it quicker for your apps to load the fonts. If they go corrupt they can cause horrific confusion as it doesn’t matter how many times you purge your fonts and reload them the problems persist as the actual font is fine. I use Font Nuke as my first course of action whenever I suspect fonts may be part of the problem. When Entourage starts displaying jibberish in the body of emails (not to be confused with the Helvetica fractions issue that causes jibberish in Safari). I have also fixed printing issues where nothing but boxes and a few odd characters print out. It’s a handy tool that fits nicely in my Font butt kicking belt.

Writing this post makes me anxious as I want to pour forth all the crud I know about fixing fonts but I think I will save them for some other smaller posts, if of course anyone is interested. Feel free to post your font tips and tricks in the comments section. You can also private message me here or on twitter if you have any more specific questions @MacfusionGirl
