One thing I don’t totally understand is how the SMS interface on the iPhone looks so much like iChat yet they don’t give you smileys. Take matters into your own hands with the $1.99 app called iEmoji (iTunes Link). Basically it installs an international keyboard preference onto your phone.

Once you enable it you have access to 450 little icons that you can use in SMS, notes, Mail and apparently any other application. The best part is the person on the other end does not need to have it installed to see your icon. It even has a favorites section that lists the icons you use most often. How does it all work? I have no idea but I like it

UPDATE:: These icons only work iPhone to iPhone and in some of my testing prevented a non iPhone from even getting any texts containing the icons. With that said I still LOVE this application and use it at least 15 times a day.
